  1. 5 places you need to visit before they vamoose!

    Hello,

I am contacting you as I write a travel blog where you can find unique, frequent posts offering both travel advice and inspiration.

I’ve recently written an article about 5 places you need to visit before they vamoose!

    http://www.economycarhire.com/blog/2013/07/04/5-places-to-visit-before-they-vamoose/

I think it would be interesting for visitors to your website, www.roundtheworldticket.com.

If you like the article, would you link to the article from your website? Alternatively, perhaps you would share it via Google+, Twitter or Facebook?

Let me know your thoughts. Thank you for your time.

    Kind regards,

    Kerri Ware

  2. Needs a "clear all" button.

When searching more than one route, I'd love to be able to hit "clear all" or a similar button to clear the route and start over. It's annoying to have to "x" out of each leg.

The clear all button is now in the toolbox area in the bottom left.

  3. Countries that have "international" spelling should appear for both: "Viet nam" and "Vietnam"

Currently if a user searches for Vietnam, nothing comes up.

More cities/countries that don't come up or are hard to find:
Ho Chi Minh City only shows up if you type in Saigon (its former name)
Kolkata only shows up if you type in Calcutta (Kolkata is the more global spelling)
Luang Prabang isn't in the system at all
Tajikistan isn't in the system at all

We added a link that lets you get right back. Also, you can always click “create a route” or the Indie logo to get back now.

  7. Allow addition of manual itinerary points

Allow users to add overland (train/car) and even non-supported airline data to itinerary - e.g. bus ride from Mozambique to Tanzania - search will need to ignore those and show as Manual entry in saved plan.

  9. Get rid of Save this route Pop-UP

The more I use Indie, the more annoying that pop-up becomes. I'm trying to edit my route, and it keeps popping up.

    Suggestion:
    - Get rid of it totally (I can still save with the button on screen)

  10. Can't edit/customize a route

I read the article "Can I edit an existing route?" which says to use a link "Customize this route". Unfortunately, there is no such link in my window. See screenshot. If I try "Save" and give the name of the route I am trying to edit, I get the error message "You already have a route with this name - xxx".

    G’day Peter,

You can edit your saved routes via the ‘your routes’ page in your BootsnAll profile:
    http://indie.bootsnall.com/routes.php?action=routes

Clicking on the blue route link will open it up in Indie with your most recent save of that route. Then you can edit as you wish.

The “customize this route” link that you’re looking for only appears in rare instances when there is a base route. For example:
    http://indie.bootsnall.com/STO-HNL-SYD-CEB-STO
(notice how there are no numbers at the end of the URL).

Let me know if you have more questions.

    cheers,
    Chris

    G’day Ellis,

On every page of Indie you will see a ‘support’ tab on the right side of your screen. Clicking on that opens a window that you can send us email.

Infants under two years old that do not require a seat will generally not need a ticket. Each airline handles it differently but often there is no fare that needs to be paid and some only require taxes. If you select ‘infant’ as one of the passenger types when building a route in Indie, it will calculate the total costs for you.

Indie returns prices in economy class only at this time, but we’re happy to put together a quote for you in business class if you require it.

    cheers,
    Chris

  13. Please add Juliaca airport, in Peru

There is an international airport near Lake Titicaca, in the Peruvian city of Juliaca. I want to add it to my route, but I cannot find it. I imagine it is not that small, considering Avianca and LAN fly in and out of it, apparently regularly.

    Hi Elis,
Despite being classified as international, JUL Airport does not feature any scheduled international connections. However, it is now active in Indie so you can add it to your route.

    cheers,
    Chris

  14. Type ahead function

On your type ahead, when I enter the airport code and you pop up your response, let me use the arrow keys to roll down to make the selection and the enter button to verify it

  15. Byland not showing up in the link

I built a trip that I took once:

PDX to AKL - overland to Christchurch fly to Sydney - overland to brisbane - fly to Bali, then BKK, then PDX - (so 2 byland segments)

the pricing on indie came out fine (it recognized the byland segments)

When I clicking back from the flight/select page to see the map, and get the link to share this trip it did not include the "byland" as part of the link

It gave me the full link - with no bylands in it - so if I shared it - I was sharing…

  17. Calendar

Why not give me the calendar as soon as I enter the city name? This has me full of confusion. I think it is because the last city shown is in theory my final destination? So maybe the calendar field needs to say inside it "depart date"

    Thank you Chris!
    We’ve made a few improvements:

    • The date areas now say “select date”
    • Roll-over help says “Departure date”

It is confusing that the date fields don’t jump out more because that’s what we’ve all grown used to with round-trips. But it seems like leaving the dates off at first lends itself better to long-term trip planning where people are really figuring out where they want to go as they enter their stops. (and in what order).

If we force dates too early, then when users move them around, they then have to “fix” the dates.

I think we have more room for improvement and we’re open to suggestions.

  18. Add Bhutan's airport to the data base?

The entire country of Bhutan, despite having an international airport of its own, is not included in the trip planning feature.
