I would consider rabies shot if you are going to be remote and it would take more than 24 hours to get medical care. The vaccine really just buys you time.

I am trying to find information on obtaining travel shots in Brazil - found one blog that indicated yellow fever shots are free in Brazil (even to non-citizens) as this is our first stop but wondering if I can get more of the travel shots there. Astonishingly expensive here in BC, Canada. Anyone have any insight?

I read a blog post recently about a family who got all their jabs at a travellers' clinic in Bangkok and saved a considerable about of money. In Canada it will cost us over $2000 for a family of three to get fully vaccinated. In the Thai Clinic, it will cost about $400 for the same.
Thoughts on rabies vaccine? it is very expensive (CDN$200) - and even if you get vaccinated you still need to get additional shots if you are bitten.
